K&K Farm Wins the Special Award at the Japan Agricultural Awards

K&K Farm, one of the Edogawa Collection’s selected partners, has received the Special Award at the Japan Agricultural Awards, which honor outstanding achievements by farmers and agricultural organizations.
Jointly organized by JA-Zenchu (Central Union of Agricultural Cooperatives) and NHK, the Japan Agricultural Award recognizes ambitious agricultural practices and food-related initiatives across Japan that offer insights into sustainable and fulfilling ways of life. K&K Farm is co-run by Kohara Hideyuki and Kadokura Shuji, who grow komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) in Edogawa City.
K&K Farm received the Special Award in the Group Organization Category. The judges praised the farm for managing 5,300 square meters of farmland in the urbanized setting of Edogawa City to grow komatsuna, developing sales channels that include school lunches, department stores, and high-end supermarkets, achieving high income, and contributing to local production for local consumption through the safe and reliable supply of food products.
●K&K Farm – Comments on the Award
Kohara Hideyuki
Everything I’ve learnt has been in the unique environment of urban agriculture, which is still very unusual across Japan. While understanding its differences with agricultural practices in other areas, I became convinced that even from our position, it’s possible to run an excellent agricultural business. I’m truly happy that our work has been recognized so broadly, regardless of scale. and that more people now know about what we’re doing.
Kadokura Shuji
It is an incredible honor to receive the Special Award at the Japan Agricultural Awards. I am deeply grateful to our hardworking staff, everyone in the agricultural community, and the local residents who support us daily. We’ll continue striving to contribute to sustainable agriculture and to build a future in farming that we can proudly pass on to the next generation. We truly appreciate your continued support and guidance.
